The Mentor Cardinals (7-0) invited the Solon Comets (5-2) to the JTO for a Friday night football showdown. The Cards showed the Comets why they were undefeated by beating Solon 42-16. The Cards scoring started early with a Jake Floria to Jason Blizzard 40 yard TD. Then the Cardinal defense took over and blocked 2 Comets FG attempts which set the tone for the entire game. After that, the Cards scored on a Marc Walton 73 yard kickoff return to take a 14-3 lead into halftime. A wild 3rd quarter saw Mentor score 21 points to Solons 7 points. Mentors TDs included two (2) Eddie Daugherty scores and an Alex Mathews TD run. Daugherty scored again in the final quarter to round out the scoring on the evening. STAT OF THE NIGHT: The Mentor Defense forced Solon to convert only 6 of 16 3rd down attempts. Join us for the HUGE matchup next week when the Cards (8-0) travel to Hudson (8-0) to face the Explorers on Thursday October 23rd for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The Mentor Cardinals started their homestretch run by pulling out an exciting victory over the Brunswick Blue Devils 21-14. The scoring started with a Jake Floria to Eddie Daugherty 28 yard strike and was followed by another Floria TD pass but this time to Alex Mathews for 32 yards. Mentors final TD came on another Floria to Daugherty connection for 32 yards. The game ended with a Cardinal interception by Marc Walton in the Brunswick end zone. Mentor only had to run out the clock to secure the victory. STAT OF THE NIGHT: Since the start of the 2012 season, Mentor's record is now 32-4! Amazing!!! The win tonight raises the Cards record to 7-0 in anticipation of next weeks game against the Solon Comets (5-2). Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. on Friday October 17th. Come join us at the JTO. GO CARDS!

The Mentor Cardinals finished off their 4 week home stand with a 49-12 win over the Shaker Heights Red Raiders. The Cards improve their record to 6-0 heading into the final 4 regular season games. These final 4 games are against teams with winning records. The scoring started tonight with an Eddie Daugherty 52 yard TD run. Daugherty followed that with another 52 yard score but this one came via a Jake Floria pass. Floria then hit Malik Porter for a 19 yard TD. Alex Mathews was next to score on a 15 yard run followed by a Mark Walton 50 yard interception return for a TD giving Mentor a 35-0 halftime lead. Mentor had two more scores in the second half when Floria had TD runs of 29 and 41 yards. Tyler Thompson was perfect on the evening with 7 extra points. STAT OF THE NIGHT: The Cards had 7 TDs tonight and averaged 36 yards on each of those TD scores! Join us next week as the Cards visit Brunswick on Friday, October 10th for the 7:00

The Mentor Cardinals completed another shutout by defeating the Brush Arcs 48-0. The win improves the Cards record to 5-0 at the half way point this season. The scoring started early when Alex Mathews ran for 2 TDs in the first quarter. Jason Blizzard also ran in a first quarter score. Finally, Jake Floria threw a 12 yard TD pass to Malik Porter ending the first quarter with a 28-0 lead. Mentor scored twice in the second quarter on another Mathews rushing TD followed by another Floria TD strike but this time to Blizzard making the score 42-0 at half. The scoring ended with a Manning Trubisky to Jarrell Jackson for 9 yards bringing the final to 48-0. STAT OF THE NIGHT: With the Cards up 27-0 after the first quarter, the Cards had 215 of total offense to Brushs 1 yard of total offense!!! The Cards next play on Thursday, October 2nd at 7 p.m. against the Shaker Heights Red Raiders at the JTO.
