Beat the Odds2018-12-08

The Children's Defense Fund-Ohio Beat the Odds scholarship program honors outstanding high school students who have overcome tremendous adversity, demonstrated academic commitment and given back to their communities. CDF-Ohio identifies five Ohio high school students to honor and support by providing each with a $5,000 college scholarship, a laptop computer, an invitation to join CDF's youth leadership development programs and other support.



Criteria:

1. Must be on track to graduate in June 2019

2. Must have overcome significant adversity such as, but not limited to, poverty, disability, homelessness or abuse

3. Must have demonstrated academic achievement as well as participation in school activities, community organizations, employment and/or community service

4. Must have a current GPA of 3.0 or high

5. Must be planning to attend college, university or vocational school in the fall of 2019

6. Must include a 750 word personal statement (see website)

7. Must include an teacher recommendation

8. Must include a community member recommendation (mentor, employer or counselor)

9. Must submit an unofficial transcript

BGSU Science & Math Education2019-01-17

This program is designed for students interested in teaching math and/or science. This program will prepare students to excel in the teaching professions, providing exceptional opportunities for research, real-world connections and classroom experience. These scholarships are valued at $4,000 the first year and are renewable dependent on available funding. The program includes a 3-week summer bridge program to prepare incoming freshmen.



Criteria:



1. Must be an Ohio resident and planning to attend BGSU in the fall of 2019

2. Minimum 3.0 gpa

3. Minimum ACT 23

4. Must be considering a career teaching either secondary science or math or middle childhood science and math.

University of Dayton ROTC2019-02-04

The University of Dayton Army Reserve Office Training Corps anticipates they will award numerous scholarships for fall of 2019. The ROTC curriculum focuses on leadership development applicable to any career - military or civilian.



The 4-year scholarships will award full tuition and fees valued at nearly $42,900/year and the Univ. of Dayton will provide up to $13,580/year in addition. These benefits are renewable.



The 3-year Advance Designee award: The University of Dayton will pay the tuition cost during the first year, and the University of Dayton will provide housing for the third and fourth year of the scholarship with a total value of over $203,240.

Ohio University Women's Club - females only2019-02-06

The Ohio University Women's Club of Greater Cleveland will award a scholarship to high school senior WOMAN. The scholarship can range in value from a partial scholarship up to full tuition. This is for the freshman year only.



Criteria:

1. Must be female and entering OU as a freshman in fall of 2019.

2. Upper 20% of class

3. Minimum unweighted gpa of 3.5

4. Minimum 25 ACT and/or 1140 SAT (Critical Reading + Math)

5. Essay (500) words (see application)

6. Must include official transcript in a SEALED envelope

National Co-Op Scholarship2019-02-12

The National Commission for Cooperative Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing high quality, college-level cooperative education, is offering 175 merit co-op scholarships totaling $4.1 million to students who are planning to participate in college cooperative education. Students must apply and be accepted for the 2019-20 academic year at one or more of the eight WACE Partner Colleges and Universities: Clarkson University, Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Oswego (SUNY), Univ. of Cincinnati, Univ. of Toledo and Wentworth Institute of Technology.



CRITERIA:



1. GPA of 3.5 or better

2. Essay describing "why you have chosen to pursue a college cooperative education program".

3. Must apply and be accepted for 2019-20 at one or more of the colleges/universities mentioned above.

4. No transcript or recommendation letters are required and they request none be sent.

5. Applicants must apply and be accepted at one of the partner institutions listed.

6. Student may submit a written application (available in the scholarship drawer located in A114) or student may apply online at: www.waceinc.org

B. Davis2019-05-25

This scholarship is offered through the generosity of the sponsors of the Student Award Search Aid website sponsors. It is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as students currently registered in any post-secondary institution. Criteria:

1. You must submit your entry via email to: awards@studentawardsearch.com

2. Must write an essay of 1000 or less on the topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.

3. Be sure to include your name, high school name, what college you will be attending and what your future academic plans are in the email.
