Ever wonder if the Roswell crash/Area 51 is a hoax? Or argue that Neil Armstrong didnt actually land on the moon? Or that Elvis faked his own death? If youre up for some riveting and friendly debate of the many conspiracies surrounding historical events, come to C202 on Mondays after school. The first meeting is Monday April 24th.


Science Olympiad

Congratulations to the Science Olympiad Team for bringing back a State Championship from Ohio State earlier this month. We were first in a field of 40 schools beating out a very strong Mason team as well as Centerville and Solon currently defending 5th and 7th place in the country. Our Science Olympiad team has made it to states every year of its existence dating back to 1990 and been to Nationals 4 of the last 10 years including 2 of the last 3.

If you are currently in grades 9-11 you could tryout to be a Mentor Sparkle Peer Leader! The Sparkle Cheerleading team is an inclusive team comprised of students with and without disabilities. We are looking for male and female students who would be willing to join the team as peer leaders and mentor students with disabilities. Tryout information is in the athletic office. There will be a mandatory meeting for all parents and students who are new to the program on April 24 from 6:00-6:30 p.m. in the Hub at Mentor High School. The first tryout session will be held April 25th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Mentor High School Student Center.

If you are a senior and planning to go to Lakeland and pursue a nursing degree, you are eligible to apply for the $1,500 Kathleen Durchik Nursing scholarship. You can pick up an application in the Guidance Office, room A114.

If you're looking for a summer job, be sure to keep checking the Job Board for the latest employment opportunities. The Job Board is located outside the Book Store.


Returning CCP students who still need to schedule for fall semester can attend a walk-in session at Lakeland on the following dates from 8:30a-4:00p: April 21, April 28, May 5, May 19 or May 26.

Sophomores and Juniors interested in serving as counselors for 6th grade camp in the fall need to apply by filling out an application and getting a teacher recommendation. A link to the online application is posted in Schoology. Students will also need to ask a teacher to complete a recommendation form as part of the application process. Teacher recommendations will be done on paper and you will need to get the form from Mrs. Sangdahl in C219. The deadline for submitting the application and the teacher recommendation form is May 10, 2017.

Boys Golf

Attention all boys interested in playing golf next year for Mentor High School. There will be a mandatory parent/player informational meeting at Mentor High in the HUB on Tuesday April 25th at 6:30 pm. Please plan on attending to learn more about next years tryouts. If you are unable to attend please email Coach Vinborg at vinborg@mentorschools.org to get tryout information.
