Goodyear STEM Career Day @ University of Akron:
Goodyear is conducting a Career Day for students interested in engineering careers April 18 at the University of Akron. Hands-on activities will be offered during the day hosted by engineers from 40+ businesses. Info at: www.goodyear.com/careerday 2,000 students will be accepted for the event. Parents may attend with their child. Students will be assigned to a group with 30 others and groups will rotate through the various activities of the day. You can also stop by the Guidance Office, room A114 for a flyer. The deadline to apply is March 13, 2015.
NACA Glenn High School Internship Opportunity:
NASA Glenn Research Center is offering paid 8-week internships for current 10th and 11th graders for summer 2015. Stop by the the Guidance Office, A114 for more info or go to: https://intern.nasa.gov. Applicants must have a 3.0 gpa and be available to work 40 hours per week from June 15-Aug. 7, 2015.

Seniors and Parents: LEAF will present "Funding Your College Education" on Tuesday January 6th at 7:00pm in the Fine Arts Ctr. This program will include information about the FAFSA and explain post secondary financial aid. (If there is a snow day on 1/6 the program will be 1/7)
University of Akron visit to MHS:
MHS graduate, Jessica DeLuca, will be visiting MHS Wed. Jan 7. Jessica currently attends Univ. of Akron. She would like to talk with students interested in attending Univ. of Akron after graduation. Jessica will be in the student center lunch mods.
Mad City Money Competition:
Cardinal Community Credit Union is sponsoring Mad City MoneyCompetition on April 18 at Lakeland College. Teams of 6 students can compete for $3,000 in scholarships. Competition is not unlike the game of "Life". Stop by Guidance for more info. During the game, students take on the role of an adult in a futuristic Mad City. They're given jobs, income, family and debt. The challenge? Visit merchants to select housing, transportation, food, necssities clothing, etc, while building a budget. Interested students can search Youtube and Google for news stories pertaining to this nationwide competition. No special skills are necessary. Teams of 6 must pay a single $20 deposit to enter, but that is refunded in full at the event.
CSU's "Engineer for a Day":
Students interested in Engineering careers are invited to participate in CSU's Engineer for a Day Program on Feb. 20, 2015. You can spend the day with an engineer in a field that interests you. Info in Guidance A114 or www.csuohio.edu/fennacademy Then click on "Engineer for a Day". Students in grades 9-12 are eligible. Students who pre-registered and are accepted are required to attend an orientation meeting on Sat. Feb. 7 from 10-1 at CSU. Parent must attend orientation if student is under 18. Space is limited, so don't delay in registering.
Cleveland Clinic Summer Volunteer Program:
The Cleveland Clinic is recruiting high school students (minimum age 15) for summer volunteering in their Junior Ambassador Program. Submit an interest form at: www.clevelandclinic.org/volunteer More info in Guidance A114. Duties would include greeting patients/visitors, providing escorts, wheelchair escorts, deliver flowers, reading/assisting with crafts. Must commit to 75 hours over 6 of the 8 week session (6/15/15-8/7/15). Minimum gpa 3.0

Boys Varsity Basketball:Sports Information:
Cards came out with a victory on Tuesday against North Royalton 75-61. Three players scored in double figures for Mentor. Andrew Valeri led the Cardinals with 23 points, followed by Joey Zaugg and Paul Satieka, who scored 16 and 15 points, respectively. Join us for our next game Friday away against Shaker Heights at 7:30 p.m. Our Alumni Night is Monday, December 22 home against Stow Monroe Falls. We can't wait to see all of the past fans and players! Go Cards!
Boys Varsity Basketball:Sports Information:
Your Mentor Cardinals began the season off with a heartbreak as they lead most of the game then lost in overtime, 74-81. Joey Zaugg lead the team with 23, Kyle McIntosh followed with 18, Andrew Valeri scored 13, and Micah Potter added 10. The Cardinals have two games this week, Tuesday, December 16, at North Royalton (7 pm) and Friday, December 19, at Shaker Heights (7:30 pm). Next Tuesday, December 22 is a home game against Stow-Munroe Falls at 7:30 pm. This is ALUMNI NIGHT! So tell your graduated friends past and players. Come support your Cards!
There will be no intramural activities until this Friday when we will be playing ping pong after school.
