Community Service Hours:
Attention seniors! Please take a look at the community service board, located outside room D-100, to see if your name is highlighted. If your name is highlighted, congrats you have earned your service cord. You have until February 28th to turn in your hours.


Black History Month Winners:
Its February so its time for the Black History Month writing contest! You can win up to $200! See your English teacher for details! Black History Month was created in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the study of Negro Life and History. They announced that the second week of February would be Negro History week. Since 1976 every US President has designated February as Black History Month. This year we have decided to focus on women contributors to History, Literature, Science, the Arts, Politics, Medicine and TV. Each day we will learn about their accomplishments and contributions to American society.


Senior Porject:
Senior Project- Seniors: Two new forms have been posted in Schoology. These forms both need to be completed to continue on with Senior Project. They will ask for specific information about where you plan to do Senior Project, who your on site adviser will be and what you plan to do while you are there. Go check them out and if you have any questions email skoubyk@mentorschools.org Seniors interested in doing Senior Project in a Lake Health Facility, the application has been posted on Schoology. The deadline to fill it out is March 1! Go check out the requirements now! Seniors: Anyone interested in shadowing someone in the theater arts, Playhouse square has a Senior Project opportunity this year. The application is posted on Schoology and the deadline is February 22 so get on it!!


Senior Project:
If you are going to do Senior Project and have an interest in a placement at either Playhouse Square or Lake Health the deadlines to apply are coming up quickly. The Playhouse Square deadline is February 22 at 5pm and the Lake Health deadline is March 1. Make sure to fill out the application to be considered for a position at either of these fine institutions.


Black History Month:
Shirley Anita Chisholm was an American politician, educator, and author. In 1968, she became the first black woman elected to the United States Congress, [2] and she represented New York's 12th Congressional District for seven terms from 1969 to 1983. Chisholm became one of the founding members of the Congressional Black Caucus in 1969, and championed minority education and employment opportunities throughout her tenure in Congress. In 1972, she became the first black candidate for a major party's nomination for President of the United States, and the first woman to run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination. Chisholm authored two books during her lifetime: Unbought and Unbossed (1970), which became her presidential campaign slogan, and The Good Fight (1973). After leaving Congress in 1983, she taught at Mount Holyoke College. Finally, she was a co-founder of Unity Democratic Club in Brooklyn, and one of the early members of the National Organization for Women (NOW) and active in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1993.

Sophomore students who have applied to a Lake Shore Compact Career Tech Program: Please stop by the CTE Office A-214 on either Friday, February 23 or Monday, February 26 to find out if you have been accepted into a career tech program.

Girls Basketball:Basketball:
Tonight at 7 pm the Lady Cardinals Basketball team enters the second round of tournament play on our home court against Chardon. Please help us fill the stands and show your support by wearing white. Go cards!!


Cheerleaders:Cheerleading Tryouts:
Anyone interested in trying out for the 2018/19 MHS cheerleading squad, there will be a Mandatory parent/student meeting March 7th. The meeting will be at the Paradigm starting at 7:00 PM. Parents and students must attend the meeting. If you and your parent cant attend you must email the Coaches. Coaches' Clinic on March 14th at 5:30- 7:30 in the Student Center. Cost is $10. You will learn what to know for tryouts and ways to improve your skills. Tryouts will start with Clinics on March 19-21 4:30-6:30, Interviews on either March 22 or 23 and tryouts on Sunday, March 25.

Last year's lists were discontinued Aug 8,2017.You need to resubscribe to receive emails for the 2017-2018 school year. If you didn't resubscribe after that date, you will not receive emails.
