Lakeland Community College Campus Visit Days:
Lakeland Community College Campus Visit Days are from 9:00-11:30 on: Sat, March 22; Fri., March 28; Fri., April 4; Sat, April 26. Seniors and parents are invited. Registration is required. Register at: www.lakelandcc.edu/recruitment or 440-525-7900


U.S. Service Academy Seminars:
Students interested in learning about admission requirements to the U.S. Service Academies are invited to attend a seminar on April 26 from 10-12pm at the Horizon Science Academy, 6000 South Marginal Rd. Cleve. Liaison officers from the Naval, Military, Air Force, and Merchant Marine academies will be present to speak and to answer questions. In addition, Academy Coordinators will discuss the congressional nomination process that we will use to select qualified men and women.


Lakeland Community College Scholarships:
Seniors, if you'll be attending Lakeland in the fall, you many apply for numerous scholarships they have available. Students must apply online, there are no paper applications. Stop by the Guidance Office for a brochure with detailed instructions. You can also go to my.lakelandcc.edu and log onto "myLakeland". Follow the instructions from that point. You must be already accepted to Lakeland for the fall. You must use your Lakeland ID number and Lakeland email address. Contact the Lakeland Help Desk if you have problems with this process.


ASVAB Test:
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test will be given free of charge to any 10, 11, 12th graders on Friday April 25 in the Fine Arts Center lobby. Sign up in the Guidance Office, room A113. The results can be used to help you look at career options, 2 or 4 year college options, ROTC, military academy, military service and vocational training. See you counselor if you have any questions.


LEAF Advisor:
Seniors and Parents are invited to Loan Information Sessions presented by LEAF at 8221 Auburn Rd. in Concord. These sessions will be April 23 and April 30 at 6:30 pm. Each session will have the same information given. Seating is limited. Reserve at www.leaf-ohio.org or 440-358-8045. These sessions will contain information about loans available to students and families.


LEAF Advisor:
Freshmen Session presented by LEAF at 8221 Auburn Road in Concord on Saturday April 26th at 10:00 am. This session will discuss what a freshman can do to prepare for their college education. Seating is limited. Reserve a seat at www.leaf-ohio.org or 440-358-8045. Parents and students are invited to attend.


Ohio Technical College:
Ohio Technical College (Cleveland) has announced that they will award an $8,000 scholarship to graduating MHS senior interested in pursuing their education in an auto technology field. Stop by the Guidance Office, room A113, for info. Deadline 5/19.

Congratulations to Math League!

Congratulations to Mentor High School's Math League Participants who earned their first perfect team score in their final competition of the year on Tuesday. This secures them a spot in the Top 20 among all schools competing in the State of Ohio. Special congratulations to the following individuals who earned perfect individual scores:

Omar Mansour, Raghav Malik, Logan Leak, Alex Li, and Jonah Vicente.

Also, congratulations to A.J. Wahlstrom on his perfect score in an earlier competition this year. Other contributing team members to be commended for their dedication and hard work throughout the year are: Dylan Linville, Victoria Rykaczewski, Nichole Wahlstrom, Lav Patel, Healther Walker, Kim Gliebe, and Kyle Pollock. Great job, students!

Clap Out News Feb 28

This week's clapout recognized the state qualifiying susuccesses of:

  • Maria Coy Swimmer. At states 5th overall 50m freestyle. 6th in breaststroke.
  • Austin Tomoletz Wrestler. Qualified for states this weekend at OSU.Finished 3rd in the 145 lb. class at Mentor
  • Bowling Team Qualified for states on Saturday by finishing 5th in districts
  • Gymnastics Team- Qualified for States starting on Friday
  • Gymnasts Maddy Marshall, Melissa Brozier,Jordan Beebe,Vanessa Cobb compete individually Satruday at States
  • Science Olympiad both teams(30 students) qualified for states April 25-26 at Case last Saturday.
