LAB - Learning About Business:
LAB (Learning About Business) is a week-long program held at Lake Erie College June 15-June 20. Current 10th & 11th graders are eligible to apply. Applications are available in the guidance office, room A113. LAB is about teamwork, self-discovery, communication, competition and entrepreneurship. It is a week away from home making new friends while learning from and networking with more than 100 local business professionals.
GoodYear Engineering Career Day at University of Akron:
Goodyear will conduct a Career Day, Sat. April 12 from 8am-2:30pm on the campus of Univ. of Akron. Students in grades 6-12 may participate in this free event. Students must register in advance. Info in Guidance A113 or at www.goodyear.com/careerday Representatives from over 50 local businesses will be on hand to conduct large group hands-on activities. Attendees will also get a free lunch and t-shirt. Parents are welcome to attend with their student. University of Akron campus tours and financial aid sessions will also be offered. Advance registration is required and students must bring a signed, printed Consent and Release Form in order to participate.
Univ. of Akron Women in Engineering Summer Camp:
Univ. of Akron is conducing a Women in Engineering Summer Camp for female students who will be in 9th through 12th grade in the 2014-2015 school year. Fee is $270 for the day camp and $270 for resident camp. Go to www.wiep.uakron.edu for more information. There is a resident camp which will be held June 15-20 and a day camp June 16-20. While attending, students will get to experience college life. College of Engineering faculty will serve as administrators and counselors for the camp.
Lakeland Community College Campus Visit Days:
Lakeland Community College is having visit days for prospective students and their parents on March 22, 28 and April 4, 26. Register at www.lakelandcc.edu/recruitment or 440-525-7900. Learn about admission requirements, financial aid, interact with current students and walking tour of campus. Application fee is waived for students who attend.
Summer Institutes at Stanford Univ.:
Stanford Univ. is offering highly motivated and intellectually curious students a summer experience on the campus of Stanford. Students will engage in 3-4 week couseword in various areas. Go to spcs.stanford.edu/explore for more info. There are courses for 14-17 year olds and 16-19 year olds. Courses range from biotechnology to entrepreneurship and creative writing are customized to give students deep exposure and hands-on experience. Limited financial aid is available.
CSU Women in Engineering Day:
CSU is conducting a Women in Engineering Day on Sat. April 5 from 10-3. Girls in grades 9-12 are invited to learn about all engineering fields. Includes trip to NASA Center at Great Lakes Science Center. Register at 216-687-5272.
Cleveland State University Open House:
Cleveland State University is having a Spring Open House on March 29 from 9-2. If you're interested in attending CSU after graduation, make plans to attend this event. Register at: csuohio.edu/openhouse Graduating seniors who bring their transcripts and test scores in a sealed envelope can receive an "instant decision" on their acceptance to CSU. See your counselor for the transcript & scores.
Miami University Summer Scholars Program:
Miami Univ. announced a summer program for rising juniors to spend 2 weeks on campus exploring topics of their choice and experiencing college life. Participants may also be eligible for merit scholarships. Go to: http://miamioh.edu/admission/high
