Football::
The Mentor Cardinals (7-0) invited the Solon Comets (5-2) to the JTO for a Friday night football showdown. The Cards showed the Comets why they were undefeated by beating Solon 42-16. The Cards scoring started early with a Jake Floria to Jason Blizzard 40 yard TD. Then the Cardinal defense took over and blocked 2 Comets FG attempts which set the tone for the entire game. After that, the Cards scored on a Marc Walton 73 yard kickoff return to take a 14-3 lead into halftime. A wild 3rd quarter saw Mentor score 21 points to Solons 7 points. Mentors TDs included two (2) Eddie Daugherty scores and an Alex Mathews TD run. Daugherty scored again in the final quarter to round out the scoring on the evening. STAT OF THE NIGHT: The Mentor Defense forced Solon to convert only 6 of 16 3rd down attempts. Join us for the HUGE matchup next week when the Cards (8-0) travel to Hudson (8-0) to face the Explorers on Thursday October 23rd for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. This will be the matchup of the year in NE Ohio and you wont want to miss seeing it in person GO CARDS!
